The Sunday Paper – An Assessment of China’s Innovative Capacity

In a blog post from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System researchers Sina T. Ates and Sharon Jeon look more closely at China’s innovative capacity.

It’s a short piece but the conclusion is unequivocal: “The particular metrics highlighted in this note suggest that China has built tremendous innovative capacity that bodes well for a prospective transformation into an innovation-based economy.”

There are caveats but the note reveals trends that are not only ahead of where others at the same stage of developmen, they use Korea as a benchmark, but also the trends established appear to be robust, persistent and sustainable.

You can review the post via this link China’s Innovative Capacity.

Here are a couple of the more interesting graphics.

Happy Sunday.
